Yes.

or no....

one common error is thinking everyone else sees what you see, I see a beat up old nickel, what do you see?

I see a slight misaligned die error (LIBERTY and the date are far from the rim and IN GOD WE TRUST is touching the rim), is that what you are asking about by any chance?
Rest in Peace

I assume you are referring to the raised area close to the rim at LIBERTY. This is not an error but is instead Die Deterioration. Many people confuse it for an error. You find this type of deterioration allot on nickels and zinc cents.

The coin that struck your coin is in it's old age. Nickels because of the nickel in the planchet wear the dies faster. Thus the outside rim is showing wear next to the rim on LIBERTY and date. The WE TRUST is showing weakness probably from a struck through error (grease filled in that area) but is not enough to demand any premium. A spendable coin, but it shows me that your eye is noticing details. So when you do find a doubled die, it should leap out at you. Other will vouch that often we are looking too hard to find something that isn't there.

It all comes with experience, I had a stack of Buffalo nickels that I had put question marks on for the dates, then after seeing more of them I went back and found dates on all but one.

My first response to this thread was somewhat short so I will expound, a picture is worth a thousand words, but a short description of what you think you are seeing is just as helpful as a good picture.

Please explain what you want us to look at so we don't dismiss something important.
