This Morgan appears above MS-63, but I'd like to know everyone's opinion. Trying to test my Morgan grading skills. If you think it is MS-63, please feel free to tell me why. (Graded MS-63 by ANACS)

Far too many hits on the cheek to make 64

We'll need to see the reverse as well.

Appeal wise I'd put it at 65 but realistically, there are so many hits on the cheek that it's actually a 63.

Way too much chatter on the face to ever get above a 63. And as far as an overall grade goes, the fact is that an iffy obverse will trump a better reverse.

This coin has great eye appeal and deserves a 63. If the chatter weren't there it would be a stellar coin. Solid MS-63, great eye appeal!

Cannot be accurately graded without a reverse picture.

I agree that without reverse pics it's hard to give an accurate grade.... But on the obverse alone the hits would hold it from a 64 in my opinion, looks like a textbook 63. And on a side note, IMHO ANACS is the leading authority on Morgans (and all varieties)... I don't care how much PCGS/NGC coolaid people want to drink, ANACS is a force to be reckoned with regarding Morgans (and they attribute far more VAM's and other series varieties). But as always buy the coin and not the holder as they all make mistakes. I don't care what company graded a coin I'll buy them due to appeal and how I grade them, for raw coins as well.

When it comes to the contact marks it's definitively 63: "distracting marks in prime focal area", vs. 64: "light scattered marks; few may be in prime focal area"
