This was a whimsical purchase I made about a week ago. I had never owned a a CAC coin, much less a CAC gold coin....nor have I ever owned a PCGS rattler. The price seemed reasonable, so I pulled the trigger!! Though it is a cool coin, and exceptionally high quality.....it doesn't really fit in my collection so I will probably be reselling it(hopefully at a profit). What would you grade it?

These are available in ridiculous grades - there are 68's, and a thousand in slabs at 66 or better - and yours looks to deserve a high placement among them. Gold Bean? At this grade level, I'm not coming down firmly without Heritage-level imagery, but I'm thinking this one gets the Gold at MS65.

The regular green CAC sticker denotes a coin that's solid for the grade, an "A" or "B" coin in John Albanese's parlance. A coin properly graded according to his standards when he first helped found both PCGS and NGC. Gold CAC stickers are for the special ones, considered either at the very top of the grade or undergraded. These coins would almost certainly upgrade if resubmitted, and generally trade at the price of the next higher grade level to what's on the slab.

Yeah, that's a gold bean at 64 all right.

Wowser. PCGS disrespected this coin in a big way.
