New-Error-Cent

From the e-mail:

Unprecedented Error Coin Manufactured at the Denver Mint

The Denver Mint was compromised recently when a rogue Mint worker designed a new Lincoln coin and manufactured 5,000 coin. Although the suspect has not yet been revealed, we know it was a Product Design Specialist currently employed at the Denver Mint. No word has been said about the fate of the suspect's employment. The Denver Mint is still investigating the incident and has issued a statement on the recent discovery:

"Unfortunately, one of our workers created their own version of the Lincoln coin. This coin was not approved by the United States Mint, however the suspect manufactured between 4,000-7,000 coins. Although errors happen occasionally at the U.S. Mint, we have never seen anything like this before. Currently, we are trying to track down these coins and investigate the incident. Thank you for your patience and continued support."

That was the first April Fools story I saw in my email yesterday, had me for a few minutes too, I was just settling down with my morning coffee so truth be told I wasn't entirely awake yet. LOL
