Really happy to get this in the mail today. My 21st birthday is next weekend so I decided to make it a gift to myself. Can anyone take a guess as to why I chose the year 1797? You don't have to know me to figure it out I'll post the answer later. Good luck!

I was going to say you were born in 1997 but that would be 17 :/

Awesome coin!

My guess would have been you were born in 1997, there are younger numismatists on CCF yet, but I guess the 21st birthday of the US makes more sense.

You guys figured it out, I chose 1797 because our country was 21 years old. I would have loved to get a cent from 1793, which would be 200 years older than me, but I'm sure you know how much THAT would cost me.

I totally agree that the obverse looks VG-08. I think the grade came in at G-04 because the reverse is in worse shape. In my highly unprofessional opinion, it would be AG-03 if based on reverse alone. Forgot to take pictures of it but might get around to it.

Oh my!
What a great b'day gift.
Hmmm, I can't do that for a while.
My b'day is in Dec.
And anyway I'm slightly over 21 ... by 50+ years.
