Hey there. Just going through organizing stray LMC"S and ran across this strange one. Someone might normally mistake for dirty. And nothing else.

At a close a glance I noticed this. Any ideas or comments? haven't had a chance to take a real close look. Decided I'd put a straight to post

Crossstrike DDO Possibly?

Are you talking about the marks on LIBERTY area? Those are coin scratches. Incuse on the coin = an event that happened after the strike or during the strike. The die is normal. But if they were raising from the surface of the coin, then it would be the die that caused the marks. Die scratches, gouges, die dents, cracks, chips, breaks, Cuds and die damage make the surface raise on the coin. A die is the negative, the coin is a positive. If the die has damage into the die, it will raise from the coin. If the coin has incuse damage this happened to the coin after coin was struck or something between the die and the planchet. If the incuse area is a scratch it trails off at one or both ends. If it is rounded/flat with strong ends, it is usually a wire, fiber, thread, staple, cloth or something that prevented a full normal strike.

Also the bust profile seems to be maybe a DBLD STRIKE. And the images brought up that usually do not show until looked into at differnt angles so on..,. Above Lib, side of bust, head pretty much all around. Alright some die scratches from damaged or worn die. Really does make for the images raised up to the surface. Is this not considered an error coin. Unique strike? Any extra value attributited
