I just decided I need to add some more to my stash after a little while of not buying and I'm finding it hard to buy junk silver at spot.
It can't be just me right?

Not the case here. It does tend to happen in smaller towns and in rural areas but in cities of 500,000 or more, there is plenty, either from collectors or coin dealers. For example my LCS at any time has about 200-500 Ounces of Canadian Silver, 20-100 ounces of US Silver and 20-50 ounces of World Coin Silver.

Coin dealers need to buy BELOW spot, so they can make a profit. A way for a collector or stasher to buy below spot, is to get lucky via ebay. Easier to get lucky though, with numismatic values than with bullion values.

Last time I bought junk (about a week ago), it was 16x face for six halfs. It came to $48. Spot was right around where it is now. If I did the math correctly, that's pretty close to spot, so I guess it can be done if one goes to a fair LCS.

JMBullion is selling 90% at 15.75 x face and free shipping for a $10 face value lot if you pay with a cheque or bank wire. They are good but can be slow so if you buy there dont be in a hurry

Most dealers around here (Southern Tier of NY) are selling between 16x to 17x face right now.

Spot has been hovering at 14 times face for a while. My LCS charges typically 10-15% over, for the past 7 years I've been going there.

Shoot, it's entirely possible to find silver at face value. I've found hundreds if not thousands the last couple years.

When I first started accumulating for my silver collection I went after world\foreign coins that I knew to be silver and at the time silver was rising steadily so it was hard for dealers to update their prices constantly. I exploited my knowledge and got some good deals for the silver weight, but not so much for any numismatic value: no real gems.

Silver and gold can ALWAYS be found at good prices when people know that you're always willing to buy and pay cash! There will always be reasons for people to have to sell their metals... having said that be very innovative on how you can buy silver.. I personally find that ebay is one place that is always overpriced.. when looking on ebay I generally look for items that are improperly listed. My "buy" prices are probably not the best in the city.. but I still end up getting a few oz's almost every month... and with the margin I have I can either (a) flip it for immediate profit or (b) sit and not worry too much about price fluctuations... It's out there... work SMARTER and you will find it!

I sold my 40% Kennedy roll hunting finds for melt on Craigslist until I found a guy who said "I'll take whatever you got call me first"
90% Kennedy's I try to get at least 5% over melt and my guy is usually good with that.
Walker and Franklin finds I keep.
