Grade? This ground recovery may be tougher to grade given the deposits still on the coin and within the recesses. Seems to be a lot of detail on this 1816 as well. Again, a free purchase from a foundation site, aside from the labor. I'll invest that for the thrill of recovery any day.

I am at Fine details. Great rims on the obverse. Another great find! Congrats!
I would give it the long term distilled water / olive soaks.
Stars are looking great too. Maybe its VF...

At least VF25, and you can still see the appeal of the coin, in spite of the
ground damage. Nice find!

VF20 details. Might be due to the environmental damage, but this is the level of detail remains on the coin.

In 1816/17, that would be a VF25-30 coin easily.
