Hi all,
Until now I have been putting all my silver proof uncirculated roosies in non pvc 2x2 flips. Is there an album or folder where I can put them in where opening and closing a cover will not scratch them or is leaving them in the flips and slipping the flips into the binder pages with pockets the best way to store them?
Thanks John

Dansco, Whitman, Littleton, and others make nice albums for holding coins. I personally use Dansco ablums. And you can either get pages with labels or blank for your own labels.

I keep mine in a box of dime tubes from Harris/Whitman. 5 tubes to the box that hold a roll worth each then put it back into the box on its side and they stay nice and safe. Whitman has a folder for dimes without dates that you could put them in and jsut mark on it with a silver paint pen that it is all silver ones.

Whitman Classic would be my choice for silver. The blue goes great with silver and the albums are better made. Dansco's are ok but they aren't made very well.

Dansco is the best of all the albums I looked at..just be very conscientious when inserting the coins into the slots dont let them go in angled push em in gently wearing nice soft gloves. The dansco will hold them "in the clear" of the sliding plastic tabs. Its just all about putting them in. And from experience I can say the dimes and cents are the hardest coin to insert in the books and its actually eaier to do it with the page out of the book...just my 2 cents worth..my only whitman (and its old) the Lincoln Cent one the coins rotate in the album.. Its where I put doubles I'm at 19 dansco albums now and they are awesome!! Homestly this is a subject I feel in the end its all about the coin owner and I do not think you can get it wrong... Like my daddy told me when I was a kid doing it right the first time really doesn't take that much longer...its all about what jumps I like the brown leather (like) look with the slipcases just looks...neat

Quote: Dansco's are ok but they aren't made very well. I know you had a problem with your ATB album, but I have to disagree with this statement. I own several Dansco albums, no complaints. Three of them are going on thirty years old now, with several coming in over twenty years of age.

I have two other Dansco's now that I have to glue pages. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

Ouch. How old are they? Were they bought around the same time?

The ATB was brand new but the 2 7070's are used but still you would think they would hold together better. My old 50's Library of Coins albums I can understand. Really if you get a Whitman Classic you'll see the difference in quality. I have Littleton, Intercept Shield, the Whitmans and others I can't think of right now. Dansco's at the bottom. No offense to anyone, just my opinion.

All I can say is that I have never had a problem with mine. As for comparing Dansco and Whitman, I really cannot say one is better than the other. To me, the only appreciable difference is the colour (and maybe the thumb notches). My first Dansco albums were bought for me, so I stuck with them. It could have been Whitman albums that my grandfather bought me; then I could be saying those have held up just the same for almost thirty years.

Both Dansco and Whitman Classics are solid. I use both but I prefer the blue of Whitman along with the fonts used. No overpriced slip covers available (that I know of) on the Whitmans, though.

John, something to checkout; these albums are for 2x2 coin holders: http://www.jpscorner.com/cardboard-...d-album.htmlIf you happen to go with a Dansco album, I recommend using the slip cover for the album. Dansco touts their slip covers have a 2-mil coating of a corrosion inhibitor that protects your coins against tarnish.

I have a Dansco made for 2x2 holders. Got it as a kid about 25 or 30 years ago. I'll post pics later of it.
