1972-D LMC DDO LDS

I just picked up a nice circulated example of the 1972D-1DO-001 (DDO-003) variety, as listed on Coppercoins.com.

Cross referenced as CONECA 1-O-1 and Wexler WDDO-001 It matches die markers for a late die state (LDS.

It is not a strong example as some of the ones I have seen but it is my first 1972-D.

Correct. Nice find. The die scratches under the nose are a marker match as well.

Tip of the day:
The lighting made it hard to confirm it at first. The angle glare/whitened the are where the doubling is showing. When taking images of a doubled die, it is best to rotate the coin and take the image. If you note on the coppercoins images, they took the images that way:

Note how the light is stronger on the side of the normal device and the shaded devices are in lower light. Then the images are rotated back to horizontal for the devices in the shot. This helps to show the doubled die better with out getting too much light on the area you want to show.
