I was born in 1983 and it doesn't look like there was a silver dolar that year. I want to have one for every year I am a live. Did it turn into a susan b anythony? I was really hoping I could get a once ounce silver dollar from 1983. Any words of wisdom? advice?

take a look at the US Coin Facts page to see production dates. But dollar coins skipped from 1981 to 1999

I found a liberty lobby troy ounce coin. I guess thats the closest I ca get? I am almost sure walking liberty silver dollars were produced the early nineties and eighties. I just saw some on online ant remember getting them from parents as a kid. So does anyone know what I can get to complete the set? I ordered a 1983 liberty lobby coin which I know not much about.

I believe the Liberty Lobby coin is a silver round produced by a private company. The ASE started in 1986.

Yeah I thought the ASE was 86. I guess I just have to get one for every year till now. Wish I had one for my birth year of 83 but I guess the Liberty lobby is the best I can do? Any suggestions?

There are dozens of bullion rounds you can choose to add in your set. The catch is that the bullion round isn't a US Mint minted coin, and it isn't a "dollar." Good news is that there IS a silver dollar made at the US Mint in 1983. It's the Los Angeles Olympics commemorative, 90% silver, slightly smaller than an ASE, and is a "silver dollar."

So would you recommend the Olympic silver or the liberty lobby or something else to be more meaningful? I know its a strange question when untimately its my decision. So if a silver dollar is pulling about $20 of silver content, the olympic coin is less? I'm looking for once ounce pieces.

So you said that the coin must be.... 1) a Silver $1 coin. 2) It must be one ounce. If you are looking for an American $1 coin with one ounce of fine silver, that's impossible. So you have to make a choice.
If you prioritize 1), then you should get a commemorative silver dollar made in 1983.
If you prioritize 2), then you should buy a 1983-dated silver round.
Time for decision...

I don't understand why the Olympic Dollar isn't the obvious choice. It's a standard Silver Dollar, legal tender, available in Business Strikes. That's what most don't seem to get about Commems - they're also legal tender.

I completely agree with SsuperDdave, to me the Olympic $1 would be the better choice, especially over a non US minted bullion round. As mentioned, the Olympic is a legal tender dollar minted for 1983, while the bullion round is soley bullion with 1983 on it... But the date on it is totally insignificant and it's not made by the US mint, nor a "true" dollar.

If you have a hard time finding a certain year you might think about having one from 100 years before... 1883 Morgan, 100 years old when you were born. Not exactly what you are looking for, but it just adds a different dimension to the set.

As said in prior posts the 1983 Los Angeles Olympic dollar is the obvious choice for 1983 And if you want a dollar a year this is the choice for 1984 The real dilemma is there were no silver or even clad dollars issued by the United States in 1985.

That is what I'm working on as well, 1884. Must be an '80s kid thing.
