By way of elimination rather than through concrete evidence I come to the conclusion that this must be a 1 real cob (3,11 gr) from the Granada mint, struck between 1601 and 1614. I wonder whether my assumption is correct?

Not bad! To be precise, you can shift the date back just a few years - more like 1599 to 1610, give or take, as this is the OMNIVM style... wherein the Philips - 2, then 3 - decided to declare themselves King of Everything on their coinage. I personally have done the same on various occasions; it has been of questionable efficacy.

No date visible (off the flan) but good central detail, as most Granada of this period seems to possess... solid piece. You seem to encounter more 2R than 1R of these years, also, so that's good for the specialist... though of course many collectors go for the Big Sexy - the 8R, maybe 4R - and eschew the smaller denoms.

I shall add the photo to my reference file :->.

Date on that one should be over the cross - I have a dated one from 1597, but before the OMNIVM type, with the date on the left of the shield (essayer C, mint mark G and denomination II on the right of the shield).

It's either for Felipe II, 1597 or 1598, essayer M, Granada.
Or for Felipe III, from 1600 to 1608, essayer M, Granada.
At least according to my Calico :)
