It looks like a normal nickel to me. Is there something special about it that you see?

, Msnats24

They're both standard nickels worth 5 cents.

But if you're posting here you must have reason to believe the 2006 is special. What are your thoughts?

The 2006 face is darker than the rest of the coin. It dose not appear to be dirt. It's very odd looking, the back of the coin is a bit dis colored as well.

Coins change color/darken with age. Check out that 2013 after 7 years of being handled and you will have a clone of the 2006

Could very well be motor oil or something similar. Mechanics tend to do this to coins when they work the register after an oil change.

I've tried cleaning the nickel with a Q-tip. The face is darker than the rest of the coin, nothing comes off onto the Q-tip. The coin does not have a dull finish on the front. On the back it also had some discoloration over the entire coin. I've looked at it with a pair of high power magnifying glasses and it really looks like it's just part of the coin. It's cool looking - I'll just add it to my collection. Thanks everyone for your input - greatly appreciated.

Try acetone. Unless you just like the look, then don't do anything but put in a 2x2 flip!
