Looks like 3K off the top of my head, and one in dire need of an acetone bath.

I can even see the scribbling scratch outside the eagles right leg.

Quote: Looks like 3K off the top of my head, and one in dire need of an acetone bath. Seems to be the 3k. I thought that looking at the die crack break attributing guide I could identify the VAM...but I was wrong.. usually, first I do an acetone bath and then take pics but this time I didn't...i will as soon as possible Thanks Quote: I can even see the scribbling scratch outside the eagles right leg. Here are some other pics to confirm Thanks

I would have expected to find this one listed in the die crack guide.

The Guide is a volunteer thing; somebody has to deliberately take the task on. I've had a couple of 3K's, which is why I recognized it, but they predated my ability to shoot decent images so I don't have anything good to post as a comparison.

Aye, one of the many things I've learned from you SD is that VAMs are still in their infancy and there is still a lot of work to be done. I've had a couple of 21'S that I thought for sure would be on the crack guide because of the apparent severity of the cracks only to come up empty. They, however, did not have any die chips like this one does.

The purpose of the Crack Guide is cherrypicking, since the cracks - whether they're the impetus for the designation or not - are the key to narrowing the field of what you're attributing. And the problem with 1921's is, probably half of the designated VAMs are there just for the scribbles. This is both a good and a bad thing - the scribbles are , but they're also the reason why 1921-P might_just_be possible to break down to every single die pairing at some point in the future. I love this date.

The most recent '21 I cherry picked has cracks all over the obverse and reverse and there's a really cool crack from the 3rd left star to Anna's nose. I thought for sure this one would jump out at me in the crack guide. Well as it turns out, the early die state is there without that very crack that I was keying on. I finally figured it out by the cracks over the Eagle's right wing tip after much . It turned out to be a 3AN3. Oh, and it is clashed with faint letter transfer and has oodles of scribbles.

The crack/break guide for 1921 is mostly for 1921-D, because that's where the coolest breaks tended to be. Point of history: VAMWorld was originally started as a way to Rob Joyce to keep the 1921-D die break guide updated without having to actually publish another one. I don't know that 1921 VAM 3K has much of a premium, if any, but it's one of those coins that you just can't help buying when you see a nice one, since the breaks are fairly dramatic.
