looks like it needs a bath in acetone though.

It seems like clay or gum I just didn't have time to even rinse it and it was past bed time lol

Safe for the coin, and works well.

If it is gum, you might try "Goo be Gone", works on sticky labels and gum. Then rinse it. I usually use mineral coin for coppercoins to loosen grime. If you have the DVD, you can view how I do that for circulated coin bathing.
