I've only been doing this for a couple of weeks now and am not familiar with all the terminology. What is the blob on the bottem edge of this penny called? And is it a keeper?

That is known as a " Cud", caused by a section of the die edge breaking away and leaving a void. Value would be $5-10 and it can increase with the size of the Cud. Nice find

Along with Cud, it's also known as a die break.

A Cud is a slang term for a Major Die Break from the 1960s that stuck.

It appears to be the same as CU-1c-1983-02
