I picked this up at the flea market the other day. What would you grade it? And what do you think would be a good price for it? Looking at sold auctions on ebay, I think I did ok.

Nice! MS 63.
The placement of the nose ding is unfortunate.
$1100 or so at 63.

I've got it as a slider, AU58. I see what looks like slight circulation rub in the fields.
On a side note, see if there is any letter transfer from the clash. It looks a pretty strong clash with the hair "V" on the wreath. The reason I ask is there are not any clashes listed on the VAMworld site and it usually takes letter transfer to be a sub listing.

Yes, I agree that this one is a close slider; 62 at the very least if it wasn't for that slight rub I see on Liberty's hair and the eagle. AU-58.

At a flea market? Somebody who deals in coins out there, or an extremely fortuitous find? Anyway, I'm on board in the mid to low AU range, with that nick to the nose limiting its upside.

Double check that 3, it looks like an altered date.

That ding on the "3" is suspicious

The guy I bought it from said someone had consigned them to him. He had a decent set of less common Morgans. I'll try to post some of the others I bought from him. The others were an 1887-S in AU, an 1892 in XF, and a 1900-S in XF/AU. I paid $325 for all 4. There were some others that I was interested in, but hadn't planned on dropping that much cash that day. I think the odd look of the 3 is a bit of PMD. I'll try to get my wife to take a pic and send it to me so I can post it. I looked at the date closely before I bought it and didn't notice anything other than the PMD just like on the star just to the right.

Here is the best close-up pic she sent me. Not the greatest pic, but it was taken on an iphone through a loupe by someone that doesn't know/care much about coins. Let me know if anything looks odd still, besides the PMD.

The enlarged photo makes me more confident the coin is OK. Good price for the 4 coins.

Looks like a slider, I'd say AU-58. $325 for all 4 is an excellent price.

Looks like this coin could have a clashed letter G, can you take a look at her neck. If you don't know what a clashed die is go research it at WWW.vamworld.com. Maybe worth your while cause this could increase the coins value a lot!

Quote: The enlarged photo makes me more confident the coin is OK. I concur, but odd damage, particularly to the star. Combined with the other obvious nicks, I'd say AU53 would be absolutely tops on how it'd grade, and AU50 or AU "details" wouldn't surprise me at all.
