Yeah, I personally think it's counterfeit. The marks not being present is an automatic deal breaker for me.

Yeah this one is pretty scary. I just figured I'd show it. I am by no means interested in it.
Maybe its 1911 Philly with the D cut in.
I wish the exposure of the photo wasn't so bright because I want to know what the surfaces actually look like, and a normal picture would help!

He just took it down as I was comparing it. I have seen several real ones in hand and the d has never been that small and filled. Def fake

To what marks on the top are you referring? Die cracks? Just trying to learn.

I think it's a Philly with "D" cut in. And Overly polished too.

MV- thanks for the link. I do have one question though regarding #3 in the post that you referred. It appears that there are no marks on that particular coin even though it is described as a weak D. In fact I don't even see a hint of a mmark on that coin. Is that coin actually a 1911-D?

Nope it isn't g048406 stated in that thread Quote: The correct answer is ..............#3. The seller mistakenly thinks his coin is a 1911-d weak "D". In fact it is just a regular authentic 1911 -MV
