ok I have just acquired a seated liberty coin that is from 1843 but it has a "s" on the back. everything I have been researching says that is doesn't exist and that San Francisco only made this coin in 1859. does anyone on here know anything about this or if this coin is possibly fake

Since the San Francisco Mint opened in 1854 in response to the California Gold Rush it would appear that your coin is a reproduction.

The San Francisco mint only opened in 1854, so that coin is a fake.

if it has an S mint mark, then it is fake. If the S is something else, pictures would help greatly.

it only weighs 17g instead of 26 so I guess it is for sure fake

Yes, counterfeit. These are heavily counterfeited in China.
