Here's an 1870 3 Cent Nickel that I just got yesterday. I bought it online, I couldn't tell from the pictures that it had all these cool die cracks & doubling. It's in one of the old "Official ANA Grade" slabs from before they became Anacs. I will post a picture of the slab once a few people have guessed a grade.

Very nice coin and a great date. I don't see any obvious wear so I'll go with 63.

I agree with the 63 on this one. Only because its in an old ANA slab. I think that I would resubmit though if it were mine. With market grading and the condition of this one, 64, maybe a shot at 65. Hard to tell the luster.
Rest in Peace

I'll go with 64. Cause it's purty, and I don't have a reputation to worry about.

The beading along the edge of the coronet appears pristine as do the numerals on the reverse. I don't see any signs of rub elsewhere, so it would be mint. Beyond that, I'm a poor one to judge, so I'll join the chorus at MS 63-64. BTW...gotta love die cracks, doubling, etc. The doubling on the letters on the obverse must be that hub doubling that Prethen was describing when I posted the pics of the 1874 a day or two ago. Not sure about the doubling along the nose up through the coronet...pretty cool.

Great coin!

I think ya'll are going to be surprised when I post the slab, which I'll do some time tomorrow.

Well, here's the slab. I think it's undergraded, can't see any rub on the coin at all. No plans right now to have it regraded, but will if I ever decide to sell.

Could you be specific about what signs of wear you are seeing on this coin?

well, 007, regardless of the grade, that is one very nice 3CN! Perhaps in hand I'd go with that AU grade, but your pics, to me, show an uncirculated coin. (But then, I'm notoriously optimistic about things in general.)
