Pictures didn't turn out too great. Taking pictures through an ICCS flip is a pain. I'm considering breaking the coin out. What do you think it graded? All opinions appreciated. Thanks. Will reveal grade and price in 2-3 days. -zx Edited by zxcccxz 06/20/2014 11:00 pm

EF 40. Excellent detail in the hair, however the color is very dull. I don't know what that is in the corner, because of the glare in the photo, but it seems like a dent on the top of the coin on the back so on giving it a EF 40

The coin being dull, is just the pictures, there isn't much luster left in hand but it has a nice, even brown/grey patina. I took these photo's today at 8PM under natural light (Whatever little is left anyway). So the coin ended up pretty dull. Furthermore to prevent glare on the plastic flip, I had to hold the coin sideways to take pictures. Those "White spots" around the tops of the pictures are just air bubbles in the plastic flip and not at all on the coin. The glare on the bottom of the obverse is pretty interesting as at first I wasn't able to see it in hand. So under a 10x magnifier, is is what appears to be a small amount of the die that is raised. Doesn't look like a Cud but not like a rim hit either. - zx

VF-20 but the obverse looks higher. Why would you take it out?

Having sent ICCS hundreds of Vicky halfs I would say VF 20 cleaned but in fact its a solid VF 30 maybe a tad better

Quote: Having sent ICCS hundreds of Vicky halfs I would say VF 20 cleaned but in fact its a solid VF 30 maybe a tad better It's obvious you are very biased against ICCS. There is NOTHING in those pictures that would indicate the coin is cleaned. Furthermore, it takes a great deal of hairlines for ICCS to even type the word 'cleaning' on their certs. For anyone who has sent "hundreds of Vicky halfs to ICCS" I would expect someone to know better.

VF 30. I agree that ICCS is far more forgiving than US TPGs when it comes to hairlines or other abnormalities for that matter.

VF 20 . ICCS is brutal on Vicky Halves. You need some flash and eye appeal to get a 30 most of the time This is still a pretty nice coin.

I'm not biased I'm just telling it how it is based on my exp. having dealt with them for many many years and I still do from time to time. As for the cleaning you say no evidence.. Well once again wrong.. The color is a clear sign that THEY might say its been cleaned...I did not say it was.... Also if you look at the devices you can see signs of dirt ? but the rest seems to have been wiped... Its a great looking coin but I would appreciate if you backed off always attacking my comments..

@Artdio: IMO, you've had more than your fair share of bad experiences with ICCS. Personally, I find them to be a good TPG aside from their choice of storage for coins (Slabs over flips for me). So yeah, the coin graded problem-free and VF-30, and I agree with their grading here. Although I did end up paying a fair bit less than the listed price because the dealer wanted a Draped bust half I had really bad and payed me full retail price for something that I bought for well under retail. My original images were pretty bad and ended up making the toning look uneven, making the coin appear cleaned. Also, because of the lighting issue, the leaves on one side of the coin (Either left or right depending on which way the coin was tilted) appear to be flat, making grade hard. My apologies. Another issue is that, again because of the light, the detail in the hair appears more flat than it is, especially where the hair stops and the forehead begins. It was fun to look on ebay for certified coins of the same date. Looking through the PCGS slabs, I found 2 problem VF's that were graded problem-free XF-40 and a VF-30 that was graded XF-45. It'd be fun to see how most of my Canadian Collection would fare at PCGS. I appreciate all your opinions. -zx

Much better depth of field on your latest pics. Had these been the first pics, I have no doubt there would have been fewer VF20ers, such is online grading.
