Would anyone know anything about this coin, It is a 1977 Lincoln Cent, dull silver in color weighing approx. 4.3 grams. I had an x-ray done today and was told it was 85 percent nickel, Is this rare and or valuable. What do I have. PLEASE HELP. Thank you.

to CCF. I am thinking it's plated. What type of x-ray did you use?

The U.S. Nickels are only 25% nickel and that creates havoc on the dies because of that much nickel in them. So I doubt it is 85% nickel.

Images are a must for us. Hard to guess what you have without them.

The x-ray was done buy a local company that dose x-rays of metals to find the amount of gold, silver, platinum, and other composition of the item being x-rayed. I will try to get a good clear pic. of this coin posted; It is Very Legit and not plated. The company that done the x-ray is very well known in the gold and silver buying world. The more research I do the more I think this is more rare then the 1943 copper penny struck during wartime, and if that's the case, Who would I send this to, to have it graded and know that I would get back what I send in. I'm not real trusting. It is 85% nickel, Not something struck on wrong blank, if that was the case it would be 25% nickel, ( TRUE ).... AND BUY THE WAY, .... ( Very Nice to meet all of you ), and Thanks for any and all input about this rare find "penny". ... positive or negative. Will get some pic's posted soon. Again; Thank You.

If genuine (please post pics), send it in to either PCGS or NGC.
