I have collected the silver eagles since they started.
my question is ,i was at a store the other day and came across a two coin (SE)set. they look a little different from regular silver eagles. plus something about being minted with a W mint mark.
west point I guess, any way what are these and are they worth collecting at the $175.00 price.

need more info on these please.

West Point Set ? 2013 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of West Point being established as an official mint.

Originally sold for 139.95 $175 in the aftermarket is not bad, but with a little effort you could probably find a better price.

are they worth collecting to someone like me that picks up the silver eagles.

I'm on the fence because of the price.

It is just one more set in the Silver Eagle series. If you are just another bullion collector, I would say pass. If you have any aspirations of becoming an ultimate ASE collector, than the special sets are a must.

But before you start, you must realize that if you start down this road of collecting sets, you must also acquire the 2006 20th anniversary 3-coin set @$200-$400, the 2011 25th anniversary 5-coin set,@$650-$900, the 2012 San Francisco 2-coin set @$150-$250.

If you just want justification for the West Point set, it contains the 5th rarest Silver Eagles minted and the only Enhanced Uncirculated coin ever minted.

1995 W proof Silver Eagle 35,000 ....... Part of the 10th anniversary Gold set
2011 Reverse Proof 100,000
2011 S Silver Eagle 100,000 ........ Both part of the 25th anniversary set
2012 Reverse Proof 224,981 ......... Part of the San Francisco Set
2013 Reverse Proof 235,689
2013 W Enhanced UNC Silver Eagle 235,689 .........Both part of the West Point Set. Enhanced Unc, only one evr made by U.S. Mint, (so far)

It's a challenge keeping up with all the ASE issues! But definitely fun.

It would depend on what you currently collect. Do you currently collect graded ASEs or raw ? I am OCD , so everything has to match. If you collect NGC MS69 Eagles , then I would stick with NGC, same with PCGS.

I personally would not bother with an ANACs graded set, not enough value for the money. The same with MS69. Anything less than MS70 set does not have enough value to me. All my sets are Original Government Packaging.

All my sets are OGP.
