I have about 1000 circulate Ike's that I picked up at face value. When I called the bank and asked if they had any large silver dollars my heart missed a beat at the reply " Well, we've got a whole bunch in the back of the vault that have been there over 10 years I know." I had dreams of finding Morgans as they brought out a box of old brown rolled dollars. Turns out no luck. My son and I went thought them to fill my album. Still a fun time!
Anyway, now I have lots of Ike's and it seems a shame to just deposit them at a bank. If I could get a little profit that would be good too. Any ideas?1

You can always list small lots of 10 at a time on ebay, they seem to bring a small profit over face these days. Make sure you check them for DDO's and other varieties first, you never know! See this nice website for more info on Ike dollar varieties: http://www.ikegroup.infoThey show a few of the better varieties on the site, and have a price guide that goes down to XF grades, some are $5 each or more!

Hmmm. I have used a few to tip valets and such. But I am really hoping to make a little profit.

OMG! I didn't think there were interesting things on Ike's that make them valuable.

I use Ike's and $2 bills as tips when I travel. Everyone I tip always remembers me and thinks that it is cool. They never realize that I should be tipping them more!! I have had valets and bellmen remember me months later!!

bring them to a coinshop, you should be able to get 1.15 + per IKE because you have such a large qty.

I'm in the same boat. I would be thrilled to get 5 cents on 1,000 Ikes. With my Health Issues (back problems etc., etc.), I wish I could rent a small space at the local FLEE MARKET and go at it for half a day. Obviously would try to sell the TONED, ERROR, PEGLEGs at a good mark-up. I would prime my little show with one or two Morgan-Peace Dollars, and some Arrowheads. You never can say what someone will pay. Anyway It would get me out of this house.

Spend them.
Unfortunately unless they are UNC and even then it will take many many many generations before they gain any value above face and even then inflation will be higher than any increase in numismatic value.
The reason they are so hard to find is everyone else has a box of them under there bed.
I would spend 1 or 2 at a time and I bet the cashier will keep them. If you spend too many in once place the cashier may not have brought enough cash to work with them to switch out and the coins will just end up getting taken back to the bank rather than go home with someone who will enjoy them and have a story to share about what happened to them at work that day.

I was at the Doctor yesterday === she upped my pain med to about the last of the "stuff." Sitting in a well padded chair is OK. Bed is fine. Standing and walking is pain pain pain & the real possibility of a bone braking fall. I just do not want to go under the knife, because of fear, I guess. There are other health issues, best left unspoken here.
