I received a 1941 Walking Liberty half dollar I purchased from a seller, as I was looking for the mint stamp on the left side, using my jewelers loupe I noticed a W stamped on the right side, its no bigger than a regular mint stamp but its not raised, any Ideas what it may or may not mean, if it were a metal stamp it had to be a tiny one and seems to me it would break, but things can be done now that will amaze you.
All my walking liberties (i believe) have that W. In fact not even 15 minutes ago My brother found 2 wlaking liberties that someone used as 1$ coins, and he thought the W was the mint hehe
Yes, it's W for Weinman, the designer of the Walking Liberty half dollar. On Mercury dimes (which Weinman also designed), you can see the designer's monogram--which is a W with a small A under the W--on the left obverse field.
