Hey guys, so for my late birthday gift from my 88 year old grandmother went to the local coin shop and said 'I want to buy something old' haha! Great job granny! She ended up walking out with these, for an elderly lady who doesn't know SQUAT about antique coins I'd say she did amazingly. [What would you all say the Barber Half-Dollar is estimated around? It's my first one!] What great history in these two coins! I love you Nanoo! (what I call her haha) Regards, Trevor.

Awesome, there's nothing like a grandmother's love. I love my oma, she's so kind and warm hearted just like all other grandmothers.
Your barber looks to be G-4-6
A great gift from a greater person.
Feel free to call me Will.

My grandma who passed long ago was a wonderful kind person who was largely responsible for my interest in coins, she always for my birthday had a Royal Mint of Canada set for me and would always check her change and put aside anything interesting for me Your Grandmother sounds like a wonderful person you are fortunate to have her

My Great Grandmother helped me get started in coin collecting in the 80's. She had Gallon jars(yes I said gallon) of Mercs,Wheats and Buffs she let me look through to start my Whitman folders. Nothing rare but a great start to a collection. She was ahead of her time in setting aside all these old coins. Sad story though she had 1916d Merc. in her purse she kept for good luck and one day her husband was looking for something found it and threw it in the change bowl on the mantle. By the time she realized it one of the kids had gone by and grabbed a handful of change for town. She never found it.

Thanks everybody! I consider to have my grandmother at her age and with her health issues. I am so happy you all have similar experiences you can all relate to! I hope I brought back some memories.
Regards, Trevor.

No better coin to have than one with a story, especially a great one like that. My most prized coins in my collection are the ones my Grandmother gave me, and they aren't the best grade nor worth the most money. Cherish that time with her.

I sure would hope so! I collect on behalf of my 10 month old son, I hope he will cherish these coins as I did/do. :) Not only are coins an investment, They tell stories of a familys past!
