I was this 1805 Draped Bust Dime that was graded AG-3 by PCGS. The reverse looks much better than AG-3 to me. The obverse looks like it could be a Good.

What do others think? Is this grade accurate?

Here's the link to the coin:

Here's the link to Photograde for Draped Bust Dimes:

Thanks for your opinions.

You can always use this as a reference for grading: http://www.pcgs.com/photograde/#/Draped10LE/Grades

And Yes, that Reverse looks significantly better than a AG to me. The detail is equal to that of a VF-20 but the rims are worn like that of a aG/G so perhaps a VG for the reverse after NET grading. The Obverse is a solid aG-03.

Overall, the coin is a G-4/G-06, so yes, slightly better than what it's graded but if there is actually Env Damage on the coin then it's graded fairly at aG-03.

Looks like PCGS 'net' graded it. AG obverse, VG reverse, environmental damage obverse.

Probably lucky to get into a holder without stating an issue. It looks like a dog to me.

IMHO, it almost makes G4. I think it's correctly graded.

It looks like a details/ problem coin to me. If GSC has it listed as a BIN you know it's a dog.

IMHO, PCGS undergraded this coin ... G4+ (better reverse) When it comes to these early coins with such uneven wear, the TPG'ers should take a more balanced approach instead of placing too much emphasis on the most worn area. Just my Two Cents worth ...

This coin might better have gone to NCS, There appears to be some surface contamination. Looking past that, I like the look of it.. Then too, given my appreciation of counterstamped coins, my sense of beauty must be impaired, eh what?

Thanks for all the responses. I asked because I own an 1805 Draped Bust Dime and have considered sending it in for grading. It's a low grade example, a Good-4, I hope, and I want to see how this type is graded before spending the money to have it slabbed.
