Love it when this happens....at first I thought it was an 83-S but to my joy it turned out to be an 88-s....may carry this one around for a while.

I don't run across stuff like this often....I actually ran across this one in search of low ball morgans. A buddy of mine found a 93-O morgan in a junk bin at another local shop...bought it, brought it back the next week and sold it to them for $100 gotta love it.

A good find to be sure. Even if it's only about G04, it's got to be worth, what, 5X melt at least?

I'll search junk bins for ANYTHING numismatic that may be a bargain. Perhaps half of the World coins ancient to modern in my collection, which numbers about 4,000 pieces found over the last 40 years, have come in this way.
That's an average of about 50 coins per year, or something around 4 or 5 per month.
Bargain wise, it helps greatly if your widen your numismatic horizons to include anything numismatic. There about 200 U.S. coins in the collection; that's a sizeable sub collection in it's own right.

It looks so vintage. That is to say, it looks so awesome, and I'm so envious. Great pickup, shadow. That's it. I'm going to do a search and try to find the closest coin shop to my house. I am so tired of ebay at the moment. I'm guessing the closest B&M will be in Memphis. Junk bin finds just fascinate me.

Quote: I'm going to do a search and try to find the closest coin shop to my house. Don't overlook pawn shops, which are often productive for "junk" silver coins. They'll often have set some aside awaiting delivery to the smelter, or to be sold at some small premium over spot.
