Franklin Half Details?

You guys should be on stage.

I used to be... every week. It looked very similar to this one:




Seriously....
I was the head counselor/director at River Vally Ranch -- a Western themed summer camp for kids since the late 50s. Rodeo every week, buffalo herd, etc..

One summer a lead stage horse was stung on the hind quarter by a large hornet (assuming bald faced hornet - that's how the horse felt it) and it spooked while the stage was still loading at the station. The horse team made the 90 degree turn very well at high speed. The stage did not. Once we got what was left of it righted, it was no longer ~9 feet tall. It came up to the middle of my chest.

One of our work boys sustained a broken arm (thankfully he was the only one hurt of the 3 people on the stage). The following took place at the hospital in downtown Baltmore:

Receptionist: How did he sustain the injury?
Us: In a stagecoach wreck
Receptionist: [awkward silence] Umm, sorry, I asked how he broke his arm?
Us: A stagecoach wreck.
Receptionist: [awkward silence] No... uh... really...how did he break his arm?
Us: Seriously.. a stagecoach wreck.
Receptionist: How am I going to put THAT on the insurance form?


That was her problem.

But... I did help rebuild the stage - which was a learning experience. And I spent a couple more days on the stage for a couple more summers.
