I'm not really an American coin guy, mainly stick to Canadian and British but ended up picking this up today along with some Canadian stuff. I'll let you know what grade it was presented to me as after I get your thoughts on it (I didn't think it was near what they said and paid what I thought was fair). Not a fan of the toning, but oh well. Hope my pics are alright. I don't do a lot of coin pics but whenever I do I gain more appreciation for those of you who post up the beautiful pics all the time. It's hard.
I tried looking through VamWorld for my coin but I'm completely lost doing that.

Yeah, that color would keep it out of a TPG slab - that's not so much toning as probably chemical exposure post-mint. The coin itself has seen very little, if any, circulation and is actually a pretty darn good strike for the type.

It's called a "Peace dollar," as most American classic coins depict Liberty.

Exceptional strong strike but the color is killing the eye appeal.

It would probably get AU or so if it didn't have the splotch of black, but with it you'd get about $20.00.

It has the look of having resided for a long time in a holder that wasn't chemically inert with respect to silver. Might be worth conserving (if possible), as it's certainly a good strike and a pretty early die state, I'd judge.

I think this one would be a good MS candidate once the dark stuff is gone.

I would try acetone before a conservation service.

I was thinking trying some acetone, I've used it to remove gunk from other coins but not for this type of toning. Can't do any harm though could it.
When it was being sold it was presented at a MS62, I thought that was a high myself but I have no grading expertise whatsoever. Paid $18 for it.

I think the strike is very nice but the color kills it. looks at least MS to me.
