I had a package sent to me in the mail recently from when my grandmother's house got cleared out. There was a lot of old german 1920s Weimar type of currency that was sent to me, and a few coins that I don't recognize. One of them is from Ireland and there are two that are in pretty bad shape but appear to be really old that came in too.

Any advice on what these might be, or even just pointing me in the right direction on research would be good. I'm totally new to this whole area.

Jim

to CCF!
The first one looks like an Ireland 1928 penny.

If you posted clearer pics, of the coin face on instead of at an angle that would help a lot. I can make out some of the design and some of the words, but not enough to find a match. I think I see III and an 's,' then maybe "MENIGER."

Then a guy in a turban smoking a hooka pipe while he sits on a lotus flower?

COIN1 (large)
SIDE1: in middle under image there is small 'F' then 'III' then small 'S' and an image of a man with a big hat who appears to be holding a key, perhaps. Around the edge the writing 'PETERMENTGER'
SIDE2: in middle there is a circle shape with some patterns in it with some crosses (non christian crosses) and other patterns. Around edge there are the letters 'CHURTRIERISLANDMUNTZ'

COIN2
SIDE1: in middle there appears to be some robed knight looking thing, around edges the letters/words 'TREV*167S*MON(unknown character)*NOV'
SIDE2: same image as on the big coin with a globe/circle and crosses pattern, around edges the letters words 'OHHVC*(unknown character)C*AK(unknown character)H*FI*TREV'

By the way the photos are not in the same order as the descriptions above.

These appear both to be coins of the German state of Trier.
