Reported both but with 1 hour to go, who knows if ebay will remove the item in time before the listing ends and the buyer ends up paying.

If the deal goes through, the buyer will probably wet his pants.

Listing has ended and it was bid up to the BIN price. Seller relisted the " Seated dollar". Argh, looks like I was a bit late finding it. Can it still be reported once the listing ends?

I reported the " Seated dollar" too. I'm usually hesitant to prejudge such sellers. I didn't bother to write to this one as he weighed apparently genuine coins, showing pics thereof. He didn't post pics of the fakes on a scale. My guess is that he's trying to pass the fakes off as they were negligent purchases on his part .... "passing the buck" so to speak!

And to think that if I was a dishonest individual I could make a fortune. I have lots of these counterfeit coins. The only difference between me and these buyers, though, is that I bought the fakes in order to "know" the enemy.

Quote: Can it still be reported once the listing ends? Sure, but since ebay no longer has a special group to report to they pretty much ignore reports now. It is very difficult to get an auction pulled anymore. Even with multiple reports of blatant fakes.

I have a working reference collection of about 200 fake coins.
Most of them are fake ancient coins; they have certainly helped me to avoid grief when considering the purchase of proportedly GENUINE coins (especially ancients).
I maintain such collection to further my educatuion in learning how to identify them.
I also maintain a reasonable specialist reference library on the subject of fake coins: their manufacture, their source, the testing of them, and their identification.
ANY coin dealer worth his salt should be doing the same thing, to protect his own reputation, and to provide good professional service to his customers.

While not a dealer, I've gradually acquired well over a hundred counterfeits, myself. I periodically show them to fellow collectors. While some shun such them, I agree that they're useful for study. Some, like the added mintmark on a 1916 dime, evidence the lengths that fakers will take to make a quick buck. A dealer sold this one to me as a learning tool.
