I have a buyer that won a listing for ~$60.

After auctions go over $50, I always send the coins as "tracked with signature".

The problem is my buyer says he is going on vacation across Canada and won't be home for the next 6 weeks. If I were to send to his house, the item would end up coming back to me because Canada Post only holds items for about 2 weeks. Although he paid for tracked shipping he requested that I send the item untracked with no signature so that the coin just goes to his mailbox because he won't be home to pick it up.

Now while I'm sure he's not lying about going on vacation, my spidey senses started tingling and red flags immediately went up.

What am I to do now? The buyer has already paid for the item and I cannot ship it to him because he's not even home. What are my options, what do you recommend? Wait 6 weeks to ship the item or cancel the transaction? Keep in mind if I cancel the transaction he can leave a neg feedback against me. -_________-

Email him explaining to him you will send it once he gets back. If he doesn't get back to you right away, don't sweat it. You sent it, he'll see it eventually.
Don't send it until he gets back to you and save the emails.

Wait for about 4 weeks, then send it and he will receive it around the time he gets back.
This is totally reasonable, just explain that it's against your policy to send without tracking on items over $50.

I'm currently touring Asia and have about $500 worth of coins which I have had the seller hold until I am back.
He may be genuine but always be on the safer side.

I am not sure how Canada Post works, but can you just send it with tracking but without the signature requirement? That way you will know it arrived and that fulfills your responsibility from an ebay perspective. Maybe he has someone picking up his mail so it won't actually be sitting in the box for all that time.

Definitely send with tracking! Otherwise no way to protect yourself.

Paypal doesn't require a signature unless the value of the shipment is greater than $325CDN. https://www.paypal.com/ca/webapps/m...n-learn-more

If he is not going to be home, why does he need it to be sent early? I would wait 5 weeks then ship it with tracking.
If he is still not home when they deliver, Canada Post will hold it for 15 days for him to pick it up. Email him with
your intentions and insist that this is your policy. I'm
sure you have this stated somewhere on your listing.

Refund his money.

When he returns from vacation have him resubmit payment and then send the package.

If he needs an explanation tell him it's because ebay requires you to provide a tracking number and show proof of delivery.

Remind him dropping item into his mailbox may not be safe, and hold the item until he is back from vacation.
