Looking forward to your opinions on this 1819 large cent. Would really appreciate it if somebody could identify the Newcomb variety. Pls excuse the slightly blurry pictures. Thank you,

I must be terrible at grading these. I would have thought this was well into the AU to upper AU range....55+ Of course this assumes sufficient luster, which is hard to read from these pics.

I am more in the Johnny camp on this one. I would say AU53. Beautiful coin.

My first thought was AU50. Looking closer I think there's a little too much wear above the eye and leaves to pull that. It is a beautiful coin though but I'm at 45 also

EF45+ to me but more like a solid EF40 in EAC grading standards. It's probably a Randall hoard coin as mentioned above. I was just reading about the Randall hoard in Dave Bowers "The Bedside Numismatist" book yesterday at the coffee shop. Here is some info online regarding it for those that are not familiar with what the Randall Hoard is exactly. http://www.pcgs.com/news/a-history-...ndall-hoard/EDIT: Copy and paste the link into a new tab or browser window, I'm not sure why the pepperjammer site is is killing links to the PCGS.com website. They are an affiliate marketing company now owned by ebay.

I am so way off on grading these. Initial glance I was thinking VF35 and than I saw the comments. Back to educating myself!
