What type of error are these called? Why does the rear of one look as though it has solder on it? Are they worth anything? Thanks

Off center strikes. What looks like solder is zinc showing through.Check e-Bay spld values. I think $2 to $5

These are called off-center errors, which means the planchet was partially struck because it was misaligned with the die. They appear to be minted in and after 1982 because the zinc can be seen.
Rest in Peace

Nice find Ant76.
How in the heck are these coins found?
They would not fit in a cent roll correctly.

First thoughts off center zinc cents, Struck between 1982 and 1992. Thanks, Doug.

Halo1st they are off center but the years are definitely wrong. Its 1982-2008 then the design changed. Its obvious they are both zincs. Nice coins Ant76! Usually the ones showing the full date carry more premiums than no dates.

Coins101, I could be wrong, but thought there was a design change after 1992, that has me thinking pre 1993. Just going by the looks of STATES. The "A" seems centered. Thanks, Doug.
