I was looking through my grandfather's coin collection and these were the first things that caught my eye. Apparently there are some more Peace dollar rolls but these are the first ones I saw. Notice the 1902 O Morgan dollar roll! I may be selling these sometime soon if my grandmother needs the money, and depending on the other stuff in the collection. What would be an estimated price for each roll? The dates are 1922, 1923, 1924, and 1925, all Philadelphia. This is excluding the 1902 O Morgan Roll. Mark

BU Peace dollar rolls? Somewhere around $600/roll if the coins are nice. Otherwise, $500ish. $25/coin.

Well I'd say you have $10,000-15,000 sitting in that pile on the table! I think the $600 a roll is a pretty good estimate. Large silver dealer APMEX has a $28 buy and $34 sell price on BU Peace dollars. Maybe call a local coin dealer and see what they would offer. ebay, etc would take 10%+ commission if you sell online.

APMEX takes a while to pay, I sold them $250 face in 90% and it took me like, three weeks to get the money. Irritating. Most local dealers would do $400-$450 per roll at best unless they have a way of cutting overhead substantially... just a reality of a B&M, they need to generate about 20% returns on most items to stay afloat, unless we're talking big transactions. If OP was local to me, I'd do $10k cash for the Peace rolls and a bit more for the one Morgan roll ($650?) if UNC, but I'd be checking out the coins in the roll first since I'm not sure the Morgans are UNC. Tough to tell through the plastic but the top one looks AU due to the dark areas on the stars, parts of the hair, etc. If you factor in tax implications, his grandmother would be far better off taking a cash offer and selling to a collector rather than selling to a dealer or somebody like APMEX and creating a paper trail that shows income... without receipts for the purchase of those rolls, I believe the IRS would assume they were obtained for face value. Suddenly, you have a large tax bill. Collectors aren't required to tender a receipt to the individual selling the coins, while a dealer is... essentially, it is not the collectors business if the individual who is selling the material opts to not report that income. So, OP, if you do sell? Look around locally and see if you can find somebody willing to pay cash.

Sounds good chasingtailbar. Thanks for the info and help, I will check the Morgan because I noticed that too. I think I'll hold onto these for now and sell all of the mint sets he had (1970 to 2009). But I will be on the look out for someone willing to pay some good money for these in cash.

Don't forget to check for hard to find VAMs you don't want to leave a bunch of $$$ on the table you didn't even know you had.

There is a good forum here on CCF if you need some help IDing any of the suspect coins you might have.

The mint sets won't garner much, unfortunately. If cash is needed, this is a very nice rainy day fund... liquid and valuable enough to garner a nice return in short measure if necessary.

Shop around with them (but don't take them all to every store). I know one local store that would give you $400 and say they are helping you. I know another store that would give you $500+ because they have buyers lined up and know they can sell them for $600 easy. The store I go to most often tries to make about 10% on quick sales. These would be in and out of his store in a day. Just watch out. There are a lot of people in the coin business trying to take things from you for far less then they are worth. You have something here that many people want. I would easily pay $600 a roll for the Peace dollars if they are BU.

The blanket label "MS60" on these rolls isn't an indication of the grades of the coins within - who's to say there isn't an MS67 or two in there? VAMs, of course, but definitely grade them all first.

Ddave has a good point, MS60 is a generic term. Peace dollars are exceptionally difficult to grade, though, perhaps the toughest of the large dollars. Common dates like that aren't worth slabbing until you hit 65 quality... so you may want to find somebody who knows their Peace dollars well and have them take a look at 'em. I doubt those are handpicked rolls from bags for a variety of reasons, so I don't think there are going to be any gems in there, but ya never know. TPG22, I doubt there are many buyers at $600+, that's $30 a coin on common dates that will almost entirely be MS62-MS63. If they were Morgans, sure, but they're not. Actually, OP, if you want to sell and tpg22 will give you $12,000 for the 20 peace rolls and pay for registered shipping/insurance, I'd take it and run. Since he's saying he'd easily pay that, I bet you could probably convince him at $625 a roll, that would be $12,500, say $150 for shipping costs via priority overnight, or less for registered. You guys can do the whole thing through ebay and he gets his buyers protection. Redacted.

I would dump the ASE rolls first, and keep the Peace/Morgan rolls until you need the cash.

Chasingtailbar, What I posted was meant to help the OP. Why you decided to attack me and what money I have or may not have is confusing. You went after me for another post and even took the time to search my past posts. It was nice to see you actually found things that matched what I had posted about grading. I hope you liked all the MS67 CAC Walkers. Since I have no money I must have gotten those for free. The OP does not have enough posts to sell here so I was not making an offer to him. I was stating what I pay at the LCS now for that type of coin. I have never seen a LCS selling BU Peace dollars for much less then $25-30 a coin.

If it's okay with your relatives, I'd keep the best example of each date for your collection. When will you ever get the opportunity to have uncirculated silver dollars for free again? There could be gems in there. For the rest of the Morgans and Peace dollars, hang onto them until your grandmother needs the money. For the Silver Eagles, sell em for quick cash unless you're into bullion. And remember, do your homework on prices. Don't get taken advantage of. Good luck op.

Consider my comment redacted, I apologize. My point stands though. If you'll easily pay $600 per roll, that implies you're willing to pay full retail plus a bit, and he'd be crazy not to take it. I bought a roll of cherrypicked BU Peace dollars for $600 about a month back, and every single coin is at least a 64. I picked them out of about $300 face the dealer had just bought at $440 a roll. I paid a $100 premium to pick my own coins, FWIW. That's $25/coin if he picked. So if you or anybody else offers him $600 per, I think that's a sweet deal considering common, raw BU Peace dollars aren't selling for crap right now.
