His feedback was 95%

That should have told you to stay away in the first place.
I always look at 'feedback' first when buying anything on ebay.

A 95.9 feedback by no means should set off any alarms.
A quick review of his feedback tells a story.

just ask him to ship all the coins together, 20$ would completely cover shipping anywhere in north america, and you can threaten to leave him 10 negatives if he doesn't comply, good luck.

I had forgotten that the was 10 separate sales. The risk of 10 negatives will make most sellers come to their senses and do the right thing.

^ Bad advice. This is considered extortion on ebay's Terms of Service.

"The buyer can't threaten to leave negative Feedback or low detailed seller ratings (DSRs) if the seller won't:
Lower the shipping and handling costs."

I responded DEAR drobca, I am not going to pay $123 to ship coins worth $20. I have a couple friends who will pick up the coins for me . Give me your address so they can decide who is closer to you in the city.. ( they can mail it a lot cheaper less than $20). It is against ebay rules to profit from shipping.Feedback for all 10 will be left, you can guess what .I will also notify ebay of your scheme to profit from shipping. His response I can not post entirely but basically "Go and F--k off a--hole. no sale " and has open 10 unpaid items against me. I picked up the phone and called the bay. This whole thing is a nightmare

bill now the ball is in your park..... Save that message in case,, Now pay the items... once received , wait the appropriate amount of time then file a Not received... You will get your money back..After you do notify seller that coins finally arrived..Ask if he wants them back..If he says of course tell him the return shipping will cost him 120.00

I apologize- I wasn't aware this would be considered extortion and was against the ToS. Thanks for the heads up!

You don't need to extort... you don't need to do ANYTHING that's underhanded...

Keep your integrity!!

Look he backed out of the offer to arrange alternate shipping...

He's opened an unpaid case... big deal.. don't pay!! It's that simple!

You don't pay he will relist the items and each of you goes on your way... you will still be able to buy and sell off ebay...

I do know this... with $120 in shipping fees for $20 worth of coins if you do pay and have them shipped he will ship them to you with signature upon recipt and you will have no grounds to get your money back...

JUST DON'T GIVE YOUR MONEY..

It was a bad mistake is all ... you asked if he would combine shipping he said he would.. but there was a miscommunication in the whole deal... this is a seller that's looking to profit.. just don't give him your money.. and you don't have to lie, steal or extort!

Send a message to ebay .. tell them you made a mistake.. own up to what you did wrong.. it's completely understandable.. if they hold you to paying this person.. simply close this account... open another...

You don't have to be THAT guy...

And if you really want those kinds of coins or tokens... I'm sure there's a few people including myself that can probably get you some for a much more reasonable price..

Good luck... but if anything else... please.. just keep your integrity... be the better man here! Don't steal.. just don't pay! That's fair and in your right... a sale doesn't happen until the transaction is completed....

AgCoinAu, no worries , I would never lower myself to theft,
I couldn't live with myself. ebay told me after 4 days, the
transaction would be closed with no mark to me. It was just
a frustrating ordeal dealing with someone of that caliber. I
wish we could go back to the days when a "handshake" meant
something.

It still does... instead of shopping with ebay and outrageous fees, save up the funds and go to a coin show, local or otherwise... face-to-face transactions with dealers are always better in my opinion...

I don't know if your email was worded right but this guy was clearly looking to make a buck off you. ebay has always been full of sellers that start a auction very low and just hope to make there money back in overpriced shipping. Its why ebay changed there shipping policies a few years ago, you aren't supposed to be able to make a profit off ebay via shipping but you still can.

I have taken losses on shipping on ebay when selling as I didn't calculate correctly still feels it better to under cost then overcost on the buyer (I just don't sell very often on ebay which makes me a novice when it comes to factoring shipping).
