Well, it did cost $3 in total with shipping, but I digress.

I looked up the cert number, I got no results. Sketchy. 😕

But the key thing is, if I don't mention the shipping I can tell people I got it for 99 cents and they'll be impressed.
Except my wife, who couldn't care less about anything coin related.
As a collector I live for these little victories . . . at least in my own mind.

OOPS! A second look at the holder shows it's not NGC, but NCS (whoever that is), with a very NGC-like logo.
Now my 99 cent bonanza looks like I spent 99 cents . . . plus $2.00 shipping for a cleaned Indian Head.

And who knows...maybe you'll get an RPD out of it?

I'm pretty sure NCS was the branch of NGC that dealt with coins submitted for conservation or problem coins that would otherwise have been bodybagged by NGC. Eventually, NGC decided to slab problem coins themselves.

What I'd like to know is why that seller takes his coin photos underneath a blacklight.

I still think it's a good buy. If I were awake at that time of day you might have had some competition.

Awesome score. I missed out on an UNC Details PCGS Mercury dime at a coin show that sold for $3 as the guy in front of me was going through the cheap slab box and bought it before I could get a look.

Honest slab if you are into certified 're-conditioned' coins.
This is not a rare date ... wondering what you would do long term with this problem coin

He doesn't show the back of the slab. I have five generation of NCS slabs listed. As this has an edgeview type holder it is either the most recent or the one before that. It is a legitimate slab by a good company. As mentioned this is NGCs conservation service branch.

The 1906 Indian Head arrived today and, for a cleaned coin, it's not too bad. Red and brown on the obverse and a nice brown reverse. The marks are all on the holder.
