This looks like an old worn lamination specimen. Can anyone confirm please? Reverse has no damage. Thanks!

I dont think it is lamination because I thought there would be more cracks in a lamination error, And because of the other damage around the coin, I think it is PMD. But I am NO expert.

Thanks SilverStacker - there are a few digs on the fromt/reverse rims, but nothing on the reverse field adjacent to the area in question. The digs also look newer to me.

Looks like an old worn lamination to me. It seems that a piece of the lamination fell off years ago, and time has made the area where it fell out smoother. The rim ding could have happened anytime during the last 84 years this coin has been floating around.

I agree with Dave42 on this one. If the missing area was just a gouge on the coin, why would there be an area in the center that was still present. I don't see how this could happen if it were damaged?

Thanks for the input folks. I've had this coin for decades. I remember finding it and thinking an old damaged coin. But I came across it today and took a second look - felt it was old worn lamination. It'll get a flip and a label now. Thanks again!
