Hi nealeffendi, Didn't think to do that , just did it but I didn't know what it should weigh so I weighted 6 other half pennies to use as a source.

3 half pennies weighed .19oz 2 at .19-.20oz flickers between and 1 at .20oz this one is .19-.20oz.

It is extremely smooth no burs or anything on the edges and is toned all over on the edge reverse and obverse. Its in pretty good nik with only the 2 pearls just beginning to fuse together but still quite visible full centre diamond what a pitty. There is no marks nothing just flat no evidence of a strike of any type what so ever, So what the heck will I ever do with this thing I never seen this before definitely not ground down to smooth and to even in thickness no bur nothing. Got me stumped. I thought I been scammed.

I don't know what PMD is pre menstrual depression came to mind LOL.

So whats all this mean should I just toss it in the bin? Not much good If you cant tell what date it is and pure blank no sign of a strike anywhere. Seems pretty pointless keeping half a half penny you cant tell anything about.

Was 'shove ha'penny' played in Australian pubs in days gone by? It was very popular in the UK. I've seen several British ex-'shove ha'penny' coins and they look just like this - worn flat on one side from being shoved along the board for years and years...

Has to be PMD,it takes two dies to mint a coin. It's like one hand clapping, can't be done.

Hi NumisRob I don't think this coin has been used for anything like that , It still has the original metal grain in it very hard to see as it is polished , there's a few light scratches and marks from use over time but that's all.

Definitely got perfectly straight original grain and all spaced perfectly apart all running the same way and it weighs the same as a complete coin. It also has patina on it the same as the edge and the obverse so its got to be the same age.

Now question what to do with it is it worth keeping or just chuck it.?
