here is a message I just received from a bidder on ebay "Hello I wish to retract my bid. According to the ebay policy, I can retract if the bid ends in more than 24 hrs. I no longer wish to buy this item. sorry for the inconvenience. thank you" is it just me or does it seem wrong to just bid on whatever because you can just retract your bid later?

Perhaps he can no longer afford it - for example, his wife has just told him she's pregnant ?

With the way ebay supports the buyer in almost any dispute... would you really want this individual as a customer? whats the item numbers listing?

As the seller, it is very much in your best interest to just cancel the bid. That dollar is most definitely not worth the headache/likely neg that you'll receive if you try to hold the buyer to their bid.

Coming I think in oct, a winner will have 1 hr to cancel their purchase. The goal is to cut down on unpaid items. It's better to have a bidder retract than win and not pay. This gives a chance for someone else to bid. How many times do people change their minds in a store. They either leave their shopping cart, or later return the item. As a seller, I'd rather have a bidder retract a bid, then have them not pay or return for refund. At least he had the courtesy of contracting you, with his intention.

Not worth the worry. If he had won it, refused to pay, or worse had paid and then wanted to return it, you would have had a lot more hassle to deal with. It's just part of life on ebay which just gets worse each year.

IS it really worth it to start a dispute for 99 cents? Anyways I think 99 cents with free shipping is not worth your while so just accept his retraction and try to get a better price for your coin.

From the bid list you should be able to get to a screen that shows you the person's bid history. If they have a lot of retractions then block them as well as cancelling the bid.

I can't see any other retractions and he seems to be buying other items.
I'm sure I wouldn't bother retracting a bid for 99c, but I can't bid since you don't ship to the UK.
So, I can't see why he would retract but surely you expect to get more than 99c for it ?

.99 cents?.. I hope for your sake it sells for more than that, especially with free shipping.

Maybe just ask him why he cancelled,it will set your mind straight. I'd easily big a few bucks on that ,but I'm banned for 60 days.
