How does Mechanical Doubling affect the value of a coin? I know some people erroneously mistake Mechanical Doubling for a double die, but I'm talking about coins that you know have Mechanical Doubling, and not a double die. Is a coin with Mechanical Doubling worth less than a coin without doubling?

On a rare coin, I doubt it would have a very negative effect on the value, maybe a small bit less, but nothing major.

On pocket change, it wont affect the value at all unless extremely dramatic.

If you use one of the E-bay sales terms Shift Doubling or Shifted Letters it would have a value of a bizllion.

If you collect MD you may pay a premium,I would not. In general though MD would lessen the value.

I have a coin that the reverse is 1/2 of each. Left side machine damaged, right side a nice DDR. It lessons value to me. If I were buy a variety, I would probably not consider a MD example because I use them for images and to have both in the same image would be distracting.
