original thread from year and a half ago... https://goccf.com/t/141752

The ANACS guy that reviewed the coin before I submitted it pointed out that the 2 indentations on the obverse are from an overstrike where material got into the die, not PMD. The verdigris near the birds head and 56 were of concern...

And it got Details due to the corrosion near beak, head and date. All things being equal I'm glad I went and got it certified anyway.

Just a touch too much wear to reach AU, I'd go for EF-45
Rest in Peace

Paddy Murphy, where have you been? Thanks for posting in the last few weeks of some amazing coins.
The 1856 has to be an AU coin to say the least.
Hope Mr. Snow chimes in on this coin.
Your coins knock my socks off!

PR55 IMO. Beautiful coins Paddy, glad ANACS got them okay, and that they are on their way back to you now!

Could be better but ANACS is too conservative.

Very nice. Others are saying PR, I can't really say as to difference between PR and MS coins for the FE Series, details wise, looks 53.

I am not an expert either, but 1956 FEs are proof-only issues.

PR-53 looks about right to me based on the amount of wear of the eagles breast feathers...and comparing against my AU55 (1857) F.E.

Landmark key date! Congrats!

No I'm fairly sure that there are both PR and MS issues for the 1856 FE. Anyone else feel free to confirm.

I'll go 45 and can't tell if it's a proof or not.

Yes, at least 600 were struck as "non-proofs".

Oh, well my mistake. I was always under the false impression that they were only proofs then. The only reason I came to that conclusion, however, is because of NGC's lack of listing said MS FEs on the coin price guide, but they list them under PF.
