Going through rolls from the bank I came across a cent with a 1958 date and a memorial back. My first thought was it was a fake. My second thought was if its real it should be worth some serious money. Does anyone know of any verified errors of this type? The coin is in ruff shape but the date is plain and no mistaking the reverse. Thanks

My first thought it that it's a " Magician's coin", the front half from one coin and the back half from another. Check the side to see if there's a seam.

I have found the double sided coins before and could always find the seam. Can't on this one. The reverse rim is damaged. I think they may have ground out the reverse and inserted memorial and the rim may have been messed with to cover up a tell tale sign.

Check the rims of the coin to see the seam.

There were a bunch of 1964 Peace dollars made. They were out for one day but they realized their mistake, recalled them, and destroyed them. Who knows, maybe one is still out there?

silverstackerkid I will garantee you that there are at least 10 of these 1964 Peace dollars that people will still have kept in their closet in a box for the past 50 years.
