Does anyone have any suggestions on what they think is the best way to keep track of there collection? Lately I have been taken pictures and just filing them. However, I was curious if someone had a better idea. Are there any phone Apps or spreadsheets available that you guys would recommend? Well, thanks in advance and I look forward to y'all's suggestions.

This has been discussed numerous time, I suggest look for older posts, but I have since switch over to collection manager from NGC, you can create a free account and input any coins beside NGC or PCGS graded coin, the only draw back is that limited to 2 images per coin.

I use Microsoft Excel to log all my US paper money. It's easy and looks really nice when it's completed. I haven't tried logging all my coins yet, but it's something I plan on doing soon.

Many people have Excel and those that don't most likely have some sort of spreadsheet s/w. The nice thing about a spreadsheet is that you can tailor it you your wants and needs ... and edit it later if you want to add or delete a column. Sorting is generally quite easy. ALSO you can link each entry to an image either located on your computer or some image storage elsewhere.

I use a combination of Outlook and Excel.... I have started to create web page files in outlook which contain the pictures of my coins and notes... I then have a list of all coins and notes ... You can link the picture into the excel file so when you click on the link it will open the page up.
It's a decent set up for me but takes a bit more effort.

It's Excel for me too. So easy to use, books on how to use it everywhere. One great thing about Excel is so many people have it so if you want you can easily take all of part of your info with you almost anywhere. By that I mean if you have all your info on Excel, download to a flash drive, something happens to your computer, almost any other computer with Office will have Excel and you can simply reinstate your info. If visiting someone you trust and they too have a computer, just bring your flash drive and poof, they can see all your info. And with so many people using Excel, you can easily ask many people how to do stuff. Hopefully your computer has Microsoft Office which should have Excel already. Why go out and buy a program for coins if you already have something.

Excel.
I use it so often for work that it is just second nature for me to put it there. Easy to sort, easy to modify.

Seems like I'm the odd one out. I use a notebook. I feel weird doing some tasks on a computer when it can be done on paper.

If you use a spreadsheet, don't forget to password protect your files. If someone takes your computer, you hate to give them a complete list of your coins as well.
