Coin is chinese...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1864-1C-L-O...em20ed797b71

Just goes to show that you can't fully trust the TPGs. They can't even tell if a coin is real or fake - why would I want them to grade it?

Doesn't look fake to me, but I still wouldn't buy it because slabbed coins are always expensive for me.

Besides, if it WAS fake, his ebay name now makes sense

Hmm...why would someone bother to put a fake in a details slab?

That's quite an accusation with ZERO info to back it up.

LOL, the BOLD N reverse is a dead give away - not to mention that the date punch is not the right type face.

Sorry, I thought it was too obvious.

And why would someone put a fake coin in a slab? Good question for NGC.

Without weighing & measuring the coin (I'm assuming you haven't) I don't see any other evidence that would to the contrary. I'm certain both were completed by NGC before designating it authentic.

If the coin is fake, it may be in a fake slab. I have seen fake coins in fake details slabs because people do not inspect details coins as carefully as problem free ones.

Nope, look up the cert on NGC site. They have it imaged as such. Bold N couldn't be more obvious, and the date type face is wrong. For someone who looks at IHCs all day, this is so glaringly obvious.

I know ya'll really want to defend NGC, but this is far from the first fake IHC I've seen slabbed by them. BEWARE.

I didn't see a problem with it. Just an ugly XF details coin.

They didn't have a BOLD N hub in 1864... that is a PROBLEM.

Yeah, the Bold N wasn't used until 1870.
