(First of all, hi again to everybody... been several months since I've been around!) I went to a coin show in Des Moines yesterday and, lo and behold, one of the dealers had a still-sealed Dansco 7070 sitting there! I won't mention what I paid for it, but the price was beyond reasonable. If you were me, what would you do with it? I'm seeing sealed 7070's going on ebay for upwards of $90-100. Since I already created my own custom type album using flips & album pages, I'm no longer feeling that obligated to keeping this. I could moreover use the profit to fill a few holes in my type collection. Plus, I'm still holding out hope that Dansco will update it someday in the next 20 years... Thoughts? Here's a pic of the treasure (and yes, it's the five-page version):

Nice find! If you cannot bring yourself to cracking it open and filling the holes, then put it up for sale. You might want to try selling it here first (with a set "pocket it now" price), but I am sure ebay will bring you more than enough to fill a few holes in your custom album.

Nice find. I would probably sell it if you're hoping they'll update and you're doing fine with your 2x2s. Just my opinion.

I am confused, if you don't need it, then why did you buy it? To resell? But those who would want to use it would simply buy a used one. Help un-confuse me.

I wouldn't buy a used one. Those slides scratch badly enough the first time they are used.

I looked for a new sealed one about 3 weeks ago on ebay and couldn't find one. I ended up finding a new one on Amazon and it was $159 plus $10 for shipping. I don't buy used albums anymore because I always eventually get around to replacing it with a new one. The plastic is always scratched and some people write in them. I now just break down and get the new ones, but I have NEVER had to pay anything even close to this high for a Dansco. Usually $30 - $50 shipped. Mine is the 6 page one. 86 slots of which I only have 10 filled so far, but it's a start :-)

Well, I didn't get any hits here and I'm not getting any hits on ebay... Here's a question for everyone: When Dansco finally gets around to updating the book, what updates does everyone actually expect? If they're only going to change the Modern Coinage page, they'd have to add: a) Lincoln 100th Anniversary cent b) Lincoln Shield centc) Presidential dollard) US Territories Quarter e) ATB Quarterf) Westward Expansion Nickel g) Facing Forward Nickel If Dansco really is only going to update this final page, I'd consider cracking open my sealed 7070 instead of waiting. Then I would only have to buy the new final page to insert. However, it would be nice to just get away from the "Modern Coinage" page altogether and completely redo the book. All post-1990s cents, nickels, & quarters being with their legacy coins would look nicer. Just rambling out loud here. What does everyone else think?

One thing I remember reading was that 7070 layout would be recreated, start to finish, to get everything back in order. The modern page would go away and all coin locations sorted to be with their denominations. I need to find the source, so take this as speculation. However, if this is true then you will not be able to just update your modern page. Regardless, I say crack it open and have it it.

THe other album makers all have a 20th century type set album. Littleton has a 19th Century album that is harder to find. Honestly, how many people can afford true 18th century only coins? And if so, would you put them in an album or have them graded and slabbed?
Personally, I think I'd rather Dansco release two separate albums for 19th and 20th century coins. And you can custom build a 7070-like album with the pages from both if you would like them all together.

I personally hope they make a page I can just buy to add to mine. I probably should have waited to buy one till the new ones came out, but I have been wanting to start this type set for a REALLY long time. So I bit the bullet. 11/86

Well, my 7070 successfully sold on ebay. I accepted a reasonable offer and made enough money to fill a few holes in my makeshift/custom US Type Album. Here's hoping the new 7070 gets released within our lifetime!

Blast I saw this forum too late. I am looking for a 7070 as it is one of my main collecting goals. Also have another topic because I didn't see this... https://goccf.com/t/190447
