Hi all, new coin community member and newbie collector. I was wondering how people display their collection? Specifically, how does one display coins for themselves to take pride in, without (in the case that visitors are over) basically showing off to possible thieves "Hey valuables all right here!!". Any ideas or advice to show off humbly so as to not hide them away in a drawer? Thanks all! Feel free to include pictures if you so desire.

You can send your best coins in to NGC, PCGS, or ANACS, and then put the graded coin in a display case without the glass top, and have a lock. Only the people that you want to show the coin to can see it.

Well, I do like Dansco albums.... But slabs, OGP (Original Government Packaging), 2x2s and 2x2s in mylar pages in a 3 ring binder are also good choices... The loose 2x2s can be stored in the small long boxes, which they make in double wide. The things like mint and proof sets in OGP can be stored in the large boxes in the back. The point here is there are so many different ways to do it that there is no one "right way". It is all in what you like.

I don't regard albums as a display method.
Albums are the best way to safely store and logically record your collection, and to easily locate any item in it. Each album performs something of the function of reference book in a working library. All of the albums in it are arranged logically, much like books in a library.
The vast majority of coins in a large museum are NOT on display, The collection is a working reference collection, and a storehouse of national treasure.
I guess that most of us treat our collections in much the same way.

@ Sel
I see.. and that makes sense I would guess that not many would have their coins actually out on display but mostly in those various storage references where they can be retrieved easily. That makes sense to me.
@ GR58 and Smokeriderdon
Great pics! Thanks for the insight!

I haven't posted much on CC in a long time, but this thread inspired me! I need to see pictures like these more often, it reinvigorates my enthusiasm for the hobby when I need it! Now I'm going to have to go home and take some pics of my own Dansco collection :)

Yeah because basically I wanted to see how people actually kept their coins out. What I have kind of been wondering is how (or if I should at all) have any specific coins out (like a picture frame would) or if people would mostly keep them in the albums and other storage holders. Wanted to get everyone's opinion to see different views to help me decide what I wanted to do with my own. :)

M K ....some people have some very nice sets/coins that can be displayed in open.
I found I don't like doing that ... Not everyone that I let into my house needs to know I have coins.
