I do. It was early 1970s when I was just a kid. While on vacation with my parents, I purchased a 20 cent piece in AU from a dealer in Phoenix for $40. Sold it a few days later to a dealer in Santa Barbara for $50. Not bad for a geeky kid who rode his bike or took a bus to look in coin dealer's cases.
Post your experience.

About a year ago I started reselling coins to make extra money. I bought a 2012 silver proof set at a coin show for $93 and sold it to a dealer at the table right next to where I bought it for $150.

The first I can remember was selling off a half dozen cc Morgans in about 1990. I made about $10 a coin. I regret selling the 1889.

Selling for a profit? That's a new concept for me as I'm a collector who rarely sells

The first one I profited on is still one of my best. Bought an 1864 Indian Head cent in "super great" condition on ebay for $26. It ended up being an 1864 L indian that graded MS63BN. Sold for about $400 profit after the grading fees.

I bought an UNC 1883 O Morgan dollar that I later sold for a $5 profit when I was about 10-11 years old.

I don't sell my coins. Although I am a paper money collector, I'm still too attached to let any of them go. I'm sure if I do sell them I would be able to make a fairly decent profit.

I believe the first profit I realized was when I flipped an 1806 quarter. Bought it on ebay years ago for about $65, worn almost slick, just as a filler for a comprehensive non-gold type set I was working on at the time. Ended up deciding to limit the set to only what would fit into a Dansco 7070. While photographing the coin before listing back on the 'Bay, I realized my quarter happened to be an 1806/5. Listed it as such and sold it for $125. Also sold a common date XF/AU Morgan one time that went for $75 at a time when they were selling around $20. Somebody must have picked up on a VAM that I missed ... I took the money and ran!

My first major purchase and first major profit came off of a 1851 Liberty Seated half dime PCGS MS-64 bought out of a Stacks Bowers Weekly auction. Sold in a smaller auction. Bought for $411.25 with the juice and sold for $575 after the fees. Not bad. Had some up and downs since. Always been around auction and coins just in the last year and a half started to seriously buy and sell at a higher level.

Bought a 1928 Peace dollar in XF condition for $200 on ebay. Went to my LCS and he bought it for $275. Compared to how he offers some of my other coins I realized I could have made much more if I sold it on ebay again. Oh well I was still happy with an easy $75. :D

First "classic" coin I bought and sold a few years later was an 1850-C $5 in a clearly undergraded PCGS AU-50 holder for $1750 at a Baltimore show in the late-90's. I sold it on ebay @ 2002 in an NGC AU-58 (cracked out and submitted) holder for $6500. ET

raw 1888 Liberty Dime - ebay $95 - PCGS graded MS64 - retailed for $400 Ask me today and I wish I had that coin because I thought I needed the money at the time and I could have actually scraped by. I could have done a far sight better in another decade or two, by the grace of God.
