I've been up and down the 04-O listings twice and I'm still not certain what this one is, although I have an idea finally, I'll not divulge what that is yet. I don't want to skew other's thoughts.

In the 1904-O attribution guide they call out the die crack in "N" of O-N-E to the wreath on the VAM 1A. The heavy polish lines at the eagle's feet are also noted. I'll go with VAM 1A. nlp

That's where I ended up Noel. I didn't look at the attribution guide, I was going by the listings alone. It just seemed like it would be more than a sub 1 listing. Thanks for the confirmation.

I'm a little late for the party, but yes that is VAM-1A. A very cool coin with die chips, clashes and lots of cracking. It can be something of a challenge to get it all on just a couple of photographs. Oddly, there appears to be no VAM-1 in the series.
Congratulations on a great pick.

Thanks Chute, I guess I was expecting more than a 1A from a Morgan that has this much going on with it.

Van Allen and Malis often used 1A to designate the first really striking variety they found on any given issue.
